PARACHUTE MUSICAL

West Side Toury (San Diego - 04/29/10)

Saying goodbye to Scottsdale, AZ was tough. The weather was amazing and so was my hair…

We started on the seven or eight hour drive to San Diego. It was incredible. There were so many shifts in scenery in such short periods of time… deserts with nothing, huge boulders forming mountains and the best of all were the sand dunes. We stopped at the dunes… they blew the ones at White Sands State Park in New Mexico away. There were a few people driving their dune buggies and dirt bikes around, having a good ol’ time. We decided to get out and “play” for a bit. Play quickly turned to, “alright, so we’ve been walking for a long time now we should probably go back”. I understand how people would just give up in the desert… it was so difficult to climb the dunes with the sand blowing in your face. Oh, and them being massively tall also didn’t help. Yesterday’s drive was so great we ended up with hours of footage… all of which I had to sift through and make sense of.

We pulled into San Diego a bit late after getting stopped by border patrol and some pretty terrifying German Shepards. The Ruby Room was the name of the venue we played. It was a lot of fun, we saw many familiar faces and old friends.

Post show, we ended up at a very nice hotel provided by Andrew’s aunt. It was huge so both bands crashed there. It’s nice to finally be in California.
