PARACHUTE MUSICAL

West Side Toury (Austin, TX - 04/22/10)

The drives the drives the drives. San Antonio to Austin wasn’t terribly exciting or terribly boring either. It was just something that had to be done… something that provided no entertainment, scenery or excitement. Once in Austin, we headed to Waterloo. Waterloo is a great record store in the heart of Austin. Our friends, Cruiser Weight, played their 2nd to last show there and it was great. Stella, the lead singer, works with kids at a pre-school so a lot of them were there hanging around and dancing about… pretty damn heartwarming. So they finished up and we headed to a veggie restaurant where I ate a steam bun and steamed spring roll… delicious.

The show was set to be semi-cluster fucked with five bands and no real understanding of where to load in. The promoter was nowhere to be found so direction wasn’t something we were going to get anytime soon. Somehow our stuff got inside and somewhat compacted in the corner. We went 2nd and played to a great crowd of people. There were sing-a-longers etc. The band that played after us, Eastern Seas, was great… young guns with button-down oxford shirts. I feel like they were playing music their fathers would be proud of and wearing clothing that would make their mothers hearts swim with pride.

Post show we headed to Adam Andersen and Stella’s home, which they so graciously invited us to crash at. Being heavy two people made for an interesting sleeping situation, but true to form, we made do. Austin was, once again, excellent to us. Thank you.
