West Side Toury (Memphis, TN - 04/18/10)
We’ve never been gone this long. A month and a half of making our way to the West Coast and back with our very dear friends the Winter Sounds will be fun no doubt, but it is still a lot to take in and a lot to leave behind. We made our way to Memphis after frantically packing every last nook and cranny of the van. We’re even heavy an extra passenger. Andrew and Tom’s next door neighbor, Ross, is making his way to Austin (a stop on this tour) and asked to get a ride down there. We happily obliged. It’s nice having an extra body in the van, it keeps egos and tempers down in situations where they could normally soar. So we make it to Memphis, load in, sound check two new songs we’re playing this tour and have a great show for about 70 people. We sold a lot of new t-shirts and then Kait Lawson went on. She’s really fantastic; great voice, fun band, flawless three part harmonies. We met at a show in NYC that we played with Wakey Wakey a few tours back and have been trying to get something together ever since. After the show we went back to our managers parents house where we laid our heads for the evening… after ransacking the hell out of the kitchen. Big thanks to Allison and Jasmine, two local Memphis girls who went above and beyond to promote for this show at the Abby. They put an add in the paper, printed out their own fliers. It was amazing and we can’t thank them enough.
