Single Release Tour - Charlotte, NC (Day 15)
It was a long drive from Carrolton to Charlotte, most of which I spent reading my book… a book that will go unnamed because I am embarrassed that I’m reading it. I have this obsessive compulsive habit that if I start something, no matter how horrible it is, I have to finish it and whatever counterparts there are to it. Take the Twilight series, purely for the sake of an example. If someone, lets call this person “Mom”, was to say that it was one of the greatest book series she’s ever read and I was to go off of that recommendation, I couldn’t just read one of the books. I would have to commit to reading all of them, and if I started with one, no matter how horrible it was, I would have to read it in its entirety. I do the same thing with music. I have a very hard time buying just one album from a new artist. I need the whole discography. I don’t know why but it’s just a little thing in me that nags until I complete the “mission”. Big side track I know, but this is a glimpse into our lives so I guess that’s a little oddity of mine. Back to the day…
We arrived in Charlotte, NC where we have played MANY times before. We’ve had moderate success in Charlotte but nothing to amazing. Five out of the six times we’ve played here it was at a place called the Evening Muse. It’s a cool little place with good sound and a nice staff (hey Rodney!!!). I actually had a really memorable night there a year or so back. I’m mildly obsessed with this band Slow Runner. I hold their record, No Disassemble, to be one of my favorites of all time. We got to play with them at the Evening Muse to a very small, intimate crowd and it was awesome. At the time I was knee deep in the above-mentioned record so it was awesome to hear some of my favorite songs live, having just opened for them. Sorry for getting away from the present so much. So we’re in Charlotte, we pull up to Amos’ Southend to play our 3rd to last show of tour. The place is VERY big and extremely pro. The sound men had their jobs down and things went very smoothly. People started packing in right when the doors opened and we ended up playing to a ton of very enthusiastic people who all bought a lot of merch. It was a great step forward for us in this town that has previously been so difficult to break into. See you all again in February Charlotte!
