PARACHUTE MUSICAL

Cincinnati, OH (Mid Point Music Festival Part II)

Cincinnati was very cool.  All the people involved with the Mid Point Music Fest treated us very well.  After leaving the hotel we headed to Waffle House, the only sponsorship we’ll ever need.  Our goal for the day was to wake up and do some heavy promotion, handing out all the CDs we burned along the way.  As it turned out, there wasn’t much going on during the day.  We made it to the artist check in and noticed there were some panels going on.  We sat in on an interesting open discussion.  Andrew and I chimed in when the topic moved to promotion and press.  The question was raised, “how do we teach great bands that are unknown to do better with their promotion for out of town shows”.  Andrew’s response was basically to do nothing, and I agree.  The people who don’t want it bad enough to put in the work need to be weeded out or discovered by fate.  We met some really cool people up there but then decided it was time to hit the street and hand out free stuff.  We gave out a good amount of CDs etcetera then headed to Gold Star Chili.  Regardless of the fact that I was totally full, I ate out of boredom.  Stuffed and satisfied, we made our way to the venue.  It was a kind of “bro bar / ho bar” place that didn’t belong having original music in it.  It packed out though, by the time we went on stage it was pretty well attended in there, reaching capacity only moments after our set.  We met a very cool band from Chicago named Yourself And The Air.  Even though we didn’t get a chance to hear their set (had to drive home) they were all really awesome dudes.  So now were driving through the night back to Nashville, ending a very long string of shows.  It’s always bittersweet leaving the road but especially so this time.  We won’t be touring for a good while after this.  Our plan is to start recording New Love and Wasn’t Ready (a new song) and have them released by early November.  Also, during our time off we plan on writing another full length / EP and start recording it early next year.  I’m excited to be home for a little while and work in a studio setting…  its been too long.  Keep up with the blog even though we aren’t touring.  We’ll document the writing / recording process.

Bye for now,

Josh
