Boston, MA - 09/12/09
We had a pretty stressful day today. A seven-hour drive turned into a ten-hour journey out of nowhere. Accidents, NY traffic, tolls… you name it, we hit it. Three accidents, millions of tunnels and a total of $50 shelled out to disgruntled tollbooth attendants later we finally got to Boston. It sucked to leave Baltimore so early but we needed to allow for enough time so we wouldn’t be late to this early show of ours in Boston. We realized quickly that plan was going to hell when we made it through the first bit of rubbernecking traffic only to encounter NYC traffic galore. Let me back up a little bit. An enjoyable part of the pre-ten hour drive was going to Phil Jacoby’s house/shop. Phil is Ben’s brother and the owner of Philtone Guitars. He’s an expert luthier who can do some amazing shit with guitars. We all wanted to see his shop and since it was on the way to 95 North we stopped in there for a little bit. It was awesome! Tons of vintage guitars, all about to be ‘Plecked’ into submission by Phil. Tonight’s show was great. I had a really REALLY tough time playing though. I chose to use the house piano instead of my keyboard and had to switch back and forth from Piano to Rhodes in a different way then I normally do. It went well, but I felt out of my element so the energy level was lower than normal. To much attention was given to not playing wrong notes during switches when I should have just melted face and stopped being such a vagina. Today’s video features No Comfort, a song we hope to have recorded early next year. We’re now hanging with our friend Karen at her nice apartment, about to sleep and then drive to NYC. BY THE WAY… on stage tonight, I mentioned how crazy expensive it was to get to Boston. I think I said something to the effect of, “If you plan on driving from Baltimore to Boston, bring $50 for tolls because that’s what we paid”. Afterwards, an amazing lady named Jen came over to the merch table, bought two CD’s for $20 and then wrote a check to Parachute Musical for $50 to cover our toll expense. That made my night and I’m will thank my lucky stars for people like Jen before I fall asleep tonight. Much thanks to Ryan’s Smashing Life for sponsoring the show and letting us be a part of it!
Goodnight,
