Roanoke, VA - 09/10/09
Lemonade, golf balls and chocolate… Roanoke, VA was great to us! However, nothing we experienced had anything to do with the three aforementioned nouns… Just a funny story I want to remember but have deemed unimportant to this entry. We got on the road early this morning, too early for any of us. Everyone was tired and no one really wanted to drive. I had a feeling that by getting in the driver’s seat it would prompt Tom to do his typical, “Hey man, I’ll drive” thing. He does this to me every time I get behind the wheel… AND I APPRECIATE IT! It’s true ladies and gentlemen, I am an awful driver. I’ve never been talented in that way… plus I’m bad with directions. Get me off the road and shut up about it already. Anyways, my big plan failed. Tom had no desire to drive, even if it meant that he could potentially die by not taking me out of the position I had seated myself in. Nevertheless, we got to Roanoke, VA on two hours of my driving and five of Andrew’s… if I do drive, it’s never for long (that’s what she said). Tonight’s venue tonight was great. Gary, the soundman / owner, really took care of us and our tour mate Keegan Dewitt. Keegan has three middle names. That isn’t important to the story at all but it’s important to me since I have two middle names and am made fun of for it regularly. Back on track now. We had a great guarantee tonight… it’s nice to spend money going to a place, knowing full well that you’ll get it back and then some. The gracious host didn’t stop there… he took us all out to dinner afterwards. The icing on the cake was the place he posted us up in. It’s a large condominium owned by a friend of his… just a vacant place that is kept clean and stocked with beds / fresh towels / etcetera for bands that come through his venue. It’s located in a fancy high rise right by the venue. I’m laying in a king sized bed, typing this right now in fact. So suck it, last floor I slept on! I’m really excited for this tour. It’s sad that it’s going to be the last one for a little while but I think we’ll come home pumped to put out some new songs and then to focus on another full length.
Good day,
Josh
