PARACHUTE MUSICAL

Pensacola, FL - Day 7 PM / Winter Sounds Tour

Lack of sleep is making it extremely difficult to recollect the day’s events.  I’m far too impatient to wait for anyone else to write this blog so I’m just going to do it myself.  We made it to Pensacola on $75 worth of gas, no sleep and thoughts of the beach.  As we pulled into town, it all seemed worthwhile…  the early wake up call from Ben’s alarm, the long drive… all worth it.  The beach was beautiful with very white sand and saltier water than you would expect.  Tom and I ran in our underwear to the very end of a super long pier and jumped off at the end in the deep, almost black water.  We then swam to shore hoping someone captured us running like idiots on film.  As it turns out, the lens cap was up…  bummer.  We then loaded our gear into Bamboo Willies, back lined what we could and watched Winter Sounds play an incredible set.  The soundman, ‘DB’, was a serious pro.  It was awesome to have great sound for once.  More often then not, you have bad sound at this stage in the game.  The Gills, natives to Pensacola, headlined the show giving an amazing performance.  We felt seriously owned.  So, with our tail between our legs we went to a local bar called Elbow Room.  The place had a very cool vibe to it.  Classic arcade games, people with funny hat fetishes, great food and extremely dim lighting.  After the day’s money ran out, we headed back to the house of a couple we met at the show.  They were very hospitable, letting both bands stay the night.  A funny disagreement broke out between two people out the house over Steely Dan (the band, not the dildo).  Then funny turned serious and we all pretended to sleep.  Roused again by Ben’s alarm at 10am, we got up and on the road…  it’s time to go, but all I want to do is sleep.

Thanks,

Josh
